Neighborhoods of Europe: A Youth Participatory Magazine Workshop
Let’s co-create a Magazine! This workshop will give the floor to the participants to shape the main articles for the second issue of the Youth Participatory Magazine of Paremvasi 2030.
The first part of the workshop will include thematic discussions in groups of 6 people. Each thematic category will be coordinated by a youth collective whose actions are in relevance with the selected topic of the festival.
At the end of the workshop there will be an open discussion on the creation of a short Call-to Action Message, which will include one (catchy) slogan from each thematic table, related to translocal activism!
Participation is open upon prior registration. Registration form

Workshop Groups
Each group table will have 6 participants and is coordinated by a facilitator from the partner youth collective whose work aligns with the topic. Coordinators guide discussion inspired by the prompts below, keep time, and support the group in drafting its article.
1. Public Space and Translocal Democracy
Coordination: Paremvasi 2030, PronousNGO
Facilitation: Panagiotis Provatas
Description: Isolation or Community? How can we define democratic space in our every day lives? How place-based practices support citizens deliberation?
Focus: Translocalism, Democratic Participation
Slots: 6

• How place-based practices support citizens deliberation?
2. Making the most of being Young Journalists in Europe
Coordination: Paremvasi 2030
Facilitation: Lefteris-Fivos Vasilopoulos / Idea: Liliana De Brauwer
Description: How Can We Make the Most of Being Young Journalists in Europe?
Using Post-it notes, we will share the opportunities, skills and fresh perspectives that come with being a young journalist in Europe. Together, we will create a shared board of ideas that we can use in our work.
Focus: Youth media, political dialogue, democratic participation, journalism and digital democracy.
Slots: 6
Discussion prompts:
• Where does AI or digital media currently undermine — or strengthen — democratic participation for young people?
• What would trustworthy, youth-led journalism look like in your neighborhood or city?
• What grassroots actions or media projects could be launched in the next 6–12 months?
3. Climate Action & Ecofeminism
Coordination: Youth Climate Diplomacy Forum — under the UNESCO Chair for Climate Diplomacy, NKUA
Facilitation: Ioanna Giakoumopoulou, Afroditi Gortsou, Natalia Vradi
Description:
This conversation will explore climate change through the lens of solidarity and justice: How can we move beyond deeply rooted ideas of competition and individual gain, and instead focus on cooperation and meaningful contribution? What does climate justice mean for young people and future generations, who have contributed less to the crisis but will live longer with its consequences? And how can young people become active participants in shaping the future they will inherit?
Drawing inspiration from the Global Solidarity Report 2025 and our conversation with Anna Hope on Young, Loud & Green, we will explore how solidarity across genders, generations, social classes, and countries can help us move from simply caring about the climate crisis to acting on it together.
Focus: Climate policy, diplomacy, cross-border action, ecofeminism.
Slots: 6
Discussion prompts:
• What local or regional environmental problem most affects your community?
• What policy solution could address it, and what would grassroots pressure look like?
• How does an ecofeminist lens change the proposed solution?
4. Are our cities inclusive?
Coordination: Paremvasi 2030
Facilitation: Nikos Oikonomou
Description:
Are our cities inclusive ? Do they accept diversity and do they support people from less advantaged backgrounds ? In the end, how does a welcoming cityspace feel ? In this workshop we will discuss the challenges faced by people living on the city's margins, such as homeless and substance addicts, and we will try to suggest how things can be improved for them. Moreover, we will discuss how these actions can be advocated for by civil society, academia and the press. In the end we will have concrete proposals for a better urban environment, and an advocacy toolkit especially in the local and european level.
Focus: Intersectional approach of access and safety in public space.
Slots: 6
Discussion prompts:
• Are our cities inclusive?
• How is public space currently unequal or unsafe for marginalized communities?
• What concrete change to public space or policy would address this?
5. Alone, Together: Can we Rebuild Collective Action?
Coordination: Youth Initiative Greece, Reclaim the Dialogue
Facilitation: Petros Apostolakis
Discussion: This workshop explores how loneliness and social disconnection affect young people’s relationship with democracy and collective action. Beyond its impact on individual well being, loneliness can weaken trust, belonging and the social ties that make participation possible. Through discussion and participatory exercises, we will examine what happens when young people have fewer spaces to meet, organise and feel part of a community, and how this shapes their willingness to engage in civic and political life. The workshop will also focus on solutions, asking what kinds of spaces, practices and forms of participation can help rebuild connection and strengthen collective action among young people.
Focus: Youth Democratic Participation, Public Sphere, Politics
Slots: 6
Discussion prompts:
• How does loneliness affect democracy?
• What can we do to inspire youth participation at the local level?
• What does it mean to Reclaim the Dialogue?
6. AI and Citizens’ Assemblies
Coordination: Paremvasi 2030, Radioactiv.ism
Facilitation: Anastasia Ntalakosta
Focus: Deliberative Democracy, political dialogue, democratic innovation, AI and digital democracy.
Slots: 6
Discussion prompts:
• Where does AI currently undermine — or strengthen — democratic participation for young people?
• How can a Citizens’ Assembly have impact on the policy making procedure? How can AI be part of it?
• What type of AI Citizens’ Assemblies could be launched in the next years?
Parallel activity: Collage corner
Organized by Mirka Argyriou, Paremvasi 2030
Experimenting on capturing our thoughts and feelings about our cities by creating a collage. Bring old newspapers, flyers, markers, stickers, scissors, glue, etc and let's imagine out cities together
Outcome of the Workshop: Each group will have as a purpose to create a small piece (article, draw, post-it collection, small collage) presenting a problem that is associated with the topic of the table. All of the contributions will be part of the 2nd issue of Paremvasi’s Youth Participatory Magazine, expected to be published in early 2027. Last but not least, each table will come up with a (catchy) slogan that will be part of Paremvasi 2030’s Call to Action on Translocal Activism and will be shared with the other participants of Transeuropa Festival.
